Artist Statement
The artist’s work explores how memory, history, and the imagination are woven together to form both fiction and reality. Elkins delves into the importance of time and spending it slowly. This is reflected in her process- involving the application of many layers, allowing time for thoughts to ruminate and for the piece to develop. She aims to offer a moment of stillness, contemplation, and remembrance- narrative imagery that encourages the viewer to exercise the imagination and to seek beauty.
